About A-Muse Theatre Group Inc.

Welcome to A-Muse Theatre Group Inc.! We are a ‘not-for-profit’ community theatre organisation that was co-founded by Helen Walker and Michelle Weaver in 2004.

The Primary objective of A-Muse is to provide inclusive opportunities for people with all abilities to explore their own creativity and self-expression within community theatre. We encourage members to develop and achieve by sharing skills and experiences and supporting each other.

Our first production “Beyond Mediocrity” was an original play co-written and produced by the co-founders in 2004.  This was followed with “Let Us A—Muse You”, a cabaret-style night of musical entertainment.  Then in 2005, we staged the musical pantomime called “Surprising Old King Cole” at Oswald’s Church Hall in Ashburton.

In 2006, we staged ‘Voices in the Wind’ at St Michael’s Church Hall in Ashburton. This wonderful show was a variety performance showing a diversity of talent and art forms such as dance, poetry, music, story telling and song.  This original production was a result of the A-MuseAbility Project.  This Project was created to provide an opportunity for people with intellectual and physical disabilities to perform and contribute to a Community Arts Project. Continuing the A-MuseAbility project we followed up with our big 2007 production, titled ‘Both Side Now’, another original which was successfully staged at the Whitehorse Centre in 2007.   This was a production for people with all abilities and was well received by the community.  In 2008 we produced an outdoor staged variety performance at the Monash Family Fun Day which was well received and a lot of fun.

We are committed to making good community theatre and we hope you can be part of it!  If you are interested in being involved or supporting ‘A-Muse’ please contact Jeanette on (03) 9803 5473 or 0417 529 537.  You can also email us on amuse.theatre@yahoo.com.au or check our website, www.a-muse.com.au
